What this part does on the machine

Bearings on a machine carry loads that change every minute of operation, and they give warning: first by sound, then by vibration. Replacing one before it breaks up is the difference between a bearing and a shaft repair.

They are identified by size and type, and with bearings that is an advantage: the size is international and can be looked up without any machine number. Inner and outer diameter plus width, measured on the old one, is enough.
